The WEMA FLS-U is a specialized under-ring adapter designed to provide a secure and reinforced mounting foundation for tank level sensors. This component is specifically engineered for applications where the tank wall is too thin to be tapped for threads or where additional structural integrity is required to prevent leaks and hardware failure.

Construction and Compatibility

The FLS-U is fabricated from high-quality stainless steel to ensure long-term resistance to corrosion, even when exposed to harsh fuel vapors or moisture. It features the industry-standard SAE 5-hole bolt pattern, making it compatible with a wide range of flange-mount and threaded-adapter systems used by WEMA, KUS, and other major marine and RV sensor manufacturers.

Key Functional Roles

The primary purpose of the under-ring is to act as a structural "backing plate" on the interior side of the tank. Its roles include:

• Providing Threaded Mounting Points: In new installations on plastic, fiberglass, or thin-gauge metal tanks, the FLS-U provides the 10-32 threaded holes necessary to bolt down the sensor flange from above.

• Structural Reinforcement: In tanks with thin top surfaces, it prevents mounting screws from pulling through or stripping out of the material under the stress of fluid movement and vibration.

• Ensuring a Uniform Seal: By sandwiching the tank material between a top flange (such as the FL-2 or FL-2WE) and the FLS-U under-ring, the assembly applies even pressure across the gasket, significantly reducing the risk of weeping or fuel leaks.

Installation and Usage

The FLS-U is designed to be maneuvered through the sender's access hole and positioned on the underside of the tank's top surface. Once in place, it aligns with the five-hole pattern drilled into the tank, allowing the mounting screws from the top-side sensor or adapter to thread directly into the ring.

For maximum reliability in thin-walled tanks, it is frequently used in conjunction with the FL-2 flange adapter. This combination creates a rigid, multi-layered mounting point that can withstand the rigors of marine and off-road environments.
