VC Performance Epoxy is a two component Teflon bearing epoxy specifically designed to be used on the underwater surfaces of high performance powerboats and racing sailboats.
VC Performance Epoxy can be applied to gelcoat, bare fiberglass, epoxy and properly primed metal surfacers.
VC Performance Epoxy has no antifouling properties but the coating dries to a hard, somewhat slippery, semi gloss white finish that can be wet sanded or burnished. VC Performance Epoxy uses Teflon to ease wet sanding and burnishing by adding lubricity to the finish. The semi gloss finish makes it easier to see where you have sanded. This helps avoid missing areas and makes it easier to see the sanding pattern. The bright white colour makes it easier to see when cleaning the bottom.
VC Performance Epoxy also has excellent water resistance and can be used as the top coat of a blister prevention system. The hard finish is suitable for trailer or rack stored boats.
Three or more coats of VC Performance Epoxy are recommended over bare fiberglass (polyester or vinylester) and properly primed bare underwater metal.
For previously painted surfaces, VC Performance Epoxy can only be applied over two component finishes that are specified for underwater use. If there is any single part product, such as antifouling on the surface it must be removed.
Theoretical Coverage of 200 square feet per GALLON, yielding a 3.5 mil dry film thickness. Minimum recommended finished dry film thickness is 10 mils.
Product may be thinned to a maximum of 10% with Interlux 2316N. Mixes at a 1:1 ration of V127 Base and V128 Curing Agent. May be applied at temperatures between 50-95 degress F (10-35 degrees C)
