When the screw valve of a rolled-up pad is opened, the foam core automatically sucks air into the pad and expands to its full size. Then the valve is closed again.
The degree of softness can be adjusted by blowing air. (unlike normal upholstery, the air can no longer escape, resulting in a high cushioning value). "Flaties" consist of an open-cell polyurethane foam core, which is welded over the entire surface and inseparably with a skin-friendly, hard-wearing textile fabric.

When not in use, the air can be deflated, the pillow rolled and stowed in its bag.
